The Wasp Woman

The Wasp Woman

Horror, Sci-fi, by Roger Corman, United States, 1959.
Scientist Eric Zinthrop is fired from his job on a honey farm for using wasps to experiment with him. The owner of a large cosmetics company, Janice Starlin, is upset when the sales of her company start to decline: her customers know that she is getting old. Zinthrop has been able to extract enzymes from the royal jelly of the queen wasp that can reverse the aging process. Janice agrees to fund further research, at great cost, provided she herself can serve as a human subject of experimentation. Unhappy with the slow results, she bursts into the scientist's lab and injects herself with extra doses of the formula.

Food for thought
In a materialistic society, where the only existential direction seems to be to enjoy and consume, the body dominates every thought, dominates the economy and all human activities. If you don't have a beautiful body, even your company goes bankrupt, because your customers have chosen you for your physical appearance. Having a beautiful body, eternally young, is what one is willing to do anything for. But the laws of Nature do not admit transgressions and there can be dire consequences.
